Our professional development courses are designed for practising breeders and other crop improvement scientists who wish to incorporte modern approaches to their breeding programmes. The courses are customisable in terms of duration, content and mode of delivery. All the courses include foundational principles, but are primarily intended to impart readily applicable, hands-on skills:
Crop Research Data Management
The Crop Research Data Management Course is designed for all crop improvement scientists, both those using conventional phenotypic approaches and those that have incorporated marker use. The course is made up of two parts that can be taught separately or together to provide both the foundational principles and the hands-on practical skills.
Experimental Design, Statistics & Data Analysis
The Experimental Design, Statistics & Data Analysis Course is designed for crop improvement scientists who wish to incorporate modern biometric and statistical approaches in their work.
Markers & Molecular Crop Breeding
Research Station Managers
The Research Station Managers Course is targeted at staff that support crop improvement scientists in the conduct of their field experiments. The course can be customised to address the requirements of both station managers and technical support staff. It is designed to ensure field experiments from whose results crop improvement scientists make their decisions are efficient and economic, and the results accurate.
Note: We recommend that clients taking one of our professional development courses also undertake some training on the Breeding Management System (BMS). The courses can be melded with BMS training, such that the BMS is used to support the practical application of new professional skills..
